Sienna Mock exam piece: Hadn't taken anything new so put your favourite images at the bottom of the page. Develop this idea (paint on the figure) but using clay smears on the body. You just need to find a model. Act on all the red comments. Level 3
15/12/17 Develop the uv light further consider the pattern and the effect on the body. Try a more structured pattern in the style of matsunaga but also try cover the face body like examples below and also experiment with your focus blurring the image sat times so to give a more dream like look. Colour pattern Focus Angle Body face
8/12/17 Look at the work of miharu matsunaga consider painting the UV paint at home and take a series of photographs at home. The uniformatity of the mark making in miharu matsunaga work is an interesting development from the more messy painting done so far. Once created you can decide which you prefer.
21/11/17 Take the body paint further- perhaps UV paint and UV lighting?
06/11/17 Some sophisticated photographs of the body but you must include the contacts and selects BEFORE the edits to show your selection (AO2) and process (AO3) Obviously you have been given instructions to create more abstract images and move into the dark room however, if this does not work perhaps you could return to the distorted self portraits. Look at these paintings by Seung Ah Paik (click on the image on the left). They are taken from selfie photographs that she takes on her phone. They remind me of Bill Brandt's nudes (on the right)
Remember we discussed going out into the natural environment like Minkinnen- lining up limbs with branches etc.
01/11/17 Experiment painting changing photographs to become even more abstract but still retaining the aspects of the body. Print out a variety of photographs that can then be worked into in the studio and the darkroom. Look at he work of the following artists and experiment in the styleof their work . Janus Miralles . Flora Borsi , May Xiong
9/10/17 Develop the ideas of photographing the body in an abstract way consider and soften up the edges of your body edits on black focus / depth of field Abstract close up Location abstract body shots wiyhin locations
Photograph Phil the life model aim to get different skin types and textures.
Look at the work JOHN COPLANS and ARNO MINKKINEN Edward Weston and Bill Brandt
20/04 Continue to explore merging faces- more family combinations, more men, greater breadth of ages. Explore genetic engineering, designer babies- this could extend the merged faces where you have quite a few (6)
27/03/17 Chosen strand: Merging faces. Next steps:
